Skin Care Tips for Men

Most men have absolutely no idea how to take care of their largest organ – their skin. Men’s skin needs to be maintained on a regular basis for the best possible health and appearance. There is a plethora of badly-formulated skin products for men, containing questionable ingredients; menthol, camphor, peppermint, eucalyptus, citrus, or even alcohol may end up creating problems such as razor burn, breakouts, oily or dry skin, and many others. Taking care of one’s face doesn’t have to be a burden, but adding a few more steps to your daily routine can make a huge difference.SkinCareMenTips

MORNING: Wash your face with a gentle, irritant and fragrance-free water-soluble cleanser (not generic soap bars containing detergents that dry out skin). We can help you choose the right cleanser for your skin type.

Shave with gentle, irritant-free and fragrance-free shaving cream, unless you’re using an electric razor. Low-grade shaving creams don’t keep your skin protected during shaving and contribute to razor burns. Rinse with cold water to close pores after shaving. We can help you to choose the right shaving cream for your skin type.

Apply a well-formulated, gentle, irritant-free, fragrance-free and alcohol-free aftershave or soothing lotion loaded with antioxidants, anti-irritants, and skin-repairing ingredients to strengthen skin’s surface and reduce redness from shaving. Do not use body lotion that contains high oil content on your face, as it can lead to breakouts.

Apply sunscreen with SPF 25 or greater. Sunlight exposure is the major cause of wrinkles and dark spots.

NIGHTTIME: Don’t go to bed wearing sunscreen or other products – cleanse your skin. Apply a small amount of AHA or BHA exfoliant, rubbing in small circular motions for one to two minutes. Rinse until clean.

Apply a well-formulated moisturizer (or serum) loaded with antioxidants, skin-repairing ingredients, and soothing agents (to keep skin looking smooth, healthy, and younger).

What products should men use to take care of their skin? The list is actually not that different from women’s (other then shaving creams). Not all skin care products are created equal; they are all designed for different types of skin: normal, oily, dry, combination, or sensitive. At Mariya’s Skin Care we can help choosing the right product for you and can give the best recommendations for any skin type you have.
